Akbaruddin Owaisi, earlier today, submitted a memorandum to Telangana Chief Minister to develop and widen Simhavauhini Mahankali temple & repair and renovate Afzalgunj mosque. The requests for expansion and repairs of these two places of worship in Old City were accepted by Telangana Chief Minister. Several thousand devotees come for the Bonalu festival in Simhavauhini Mahankali temple, the biggest cultural festival in Telangana, every year but due to the lack of space, the devotees face many problems. Akbaruddin Owaisi requested to widen it at a cost of ₹10 crores. He also requested the Telangana Chief Minister to sanction ₹3 crores for the renovation and repairs of the ancient Afzalgunj mosque. It must be noted that the 6th Nizam of Hyderabad Mahboob Ali Khan gave donations and land for the construction of Simhavauhini Mahankali temple, and his Prime Minister Maharaja Kishan Pershad started the Bonalu festival from the temple.
